Contributed by: Liz Martin on 5/8/2006

The DTC Rotary Club has selected Alisa (Masha) Gandin Interact Student of the Month. Masha, a senior at Denver's Thomas Jefferson High School, is an active member of the Interact Club, sponsored by the DTC Rotary Club of Englewood.

Masha immigrated to the US from St. Petersburg, Russia when she was three. She has volunteered at the Denver Dumb Friends League and was recognized as Young Adult Volunteer of the Year in 2005. She is a member of the National Forensics League where her favorite events are Duo, Impromptu and Congress. Masha was most recently co-chairman of Interact's successful drive that collected school supplies at Thomas Jefferson for students with special needs in Arusia, Tanzania. Masha will attend the University of Colorado at Denver in the fall.

Interact is a service club for young people ages 14-18 created in 1962 by Rotary International and established in more than 100 countries. The youth clubs are self-governing and self-supporting giving Interactors a chance to develop leadership skills while learning the value of good teamwork. DTC Rotary sponsors for the Thomas Jefferson club are Sherry Hanson, Rob Packard and Dana Arell. Danny Showers is the Interact Club's advisor.

The DTC Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays at noon at the Glenmoor Country Club. For membership information visit the DTC Rotary website or contact Sherry Hanson at shehanson@msn.com.
