Golf tournament to benefit George Washington High
Contributed by: John Eisel on 8/19/2008

DENVER - With a well-needed rain dampening its initial efforts, Alums & Friends of GW, a nonprofit charitable foundation benefiting George Washington High School, has rescheduled its first annual golf tournament for Friday, Sept. 12.

Proceeds from the tournament will go towards replacing the 46-year-old acoustic system in the school's auditorium, which will cost about $45,000. A new sound system and curtain were recently installed in the auditorium, and the new acoustics will complete the renovation.

The shotgun start tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. at Wellshire Golf Course, 3333 S. Colorado Blvd. in Denver.

Cost to play is $100. Non-golfers who want to lend support can donate $150 to have a George Washington student play. Sponsorship opportunities starting at $500 are also available for individuals, companies, and organizations. Registration deadline is now Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Alums & Friends of GW has a number of great golf packages available for a silent auction, which is sure to expand and diversify.

A complimentary Continental breakfast and lunch are included.

A registration form and more information about Alums & Friends of GW is available online at http://gwhs.dpsk12.org/alumni.php or by contacting Director and Treasurer Jim Eichberg at 303-750-5509 or jbe47@comcast.net.
