The Wellshire East community of Denver celebrated the 4th of July with a Parade as they have done for the past 14 years. The Denver Police Department provided an escort as adults and children dressed up in patriotic colors. Everyone joined in by walking, biking, scootering, rollerblading and the littlest ones came along in decorated wagons too!
After reaching Hutchinson Park, everyone enjoyed a pot-luck refreshment table, with home-made brownies, cookies, and lots of watermelon to eat. There was ice cold water and lemonade for everyone.
The wonderful firefighters of Denvers Fire Department, Tower 22, setup their pumper to cool off people by letting children and adults run through the spray.Kids of all ages LOVED getting soaked!
Afterwards, prizes were awarded for best decorated bicycles. There were races for the children, and winners received ribbons and prizes. There were running, three-legged, and sack races in all age groups. They finished up with an egg toss. Some people ended up with egg everywhere. It was a really fun morningfor everyone who attended.
