Car crash reveals drug possession
At 11:25 p.m. July 30, police reported to the intersection of West Exposition Avenue and South Tejon Street on a report of a car crash. Police said the driver, a 34-year-old Denver man, ran from the scene, but was caught after a short foot chase. The man tried to resist arrest. When police searched him, they found he had suspected narcotics in his pants pocket. When they searched his car, they found a bolt cutter. Police later learned the man's license was under revocation. The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and possession of burglary tools.
Man, woman robbed near park
At 10:28 p.m. Aug. 4, police were dispatched to the 900 block of South Canosa Court on a robbery report. Upon arrival, police spoke with 27-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman who said they were standing next to their vehicles when they were approached by three unknown males. The vehicles were on the south side of Huston Lake Park at the 2600 block of West Kentucky Avenue. Police said the group asked the man and woman for the time, and then pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the couple, demanding money and keys. The men took the man's wallet, car keys and the woman's necklace. The suspects then fled on foot southbound on the 900 block of South Bryant Street.
