Tips, tricks for camping with dogs

We go camping with our two dogs, Sammy and Cebu, as often as we can. Here is a list of some of the things we pack for our dogs in case you are planning on taking your dogs to the mountains too.

*Food and treats: They will need more food than normal if they are hiking all day.
*Water bowl
*Leashes: Short leashes for walks plus long leashes for tying up to a picnic table at camp site.
*Old towels: Great for wiping off muddy paws before entering the tent or car.
*Dr. Bronner's liquid soap: This works as a dog wash if your dog rolls in something nasty, which they will. Once Cebu rolled in fish bait and then went in the tent and sat on my pillow! Sammy will roll in any mud puddle that he can find. If you have a sun shower, it works great to rinse off your dog.
*Dog coat: It can get down in the 30s at night in the mountains. Brrrr... *Nature's Miracle: Forget this and your dog is guaranteed to barf on your sleeping bag.
*Dog brush: You'll have plenty of time to brush your dog outside. It helps get the dirt off and, heaven forbid, ticks.
*Poop bags: "Leave no trace" applies to dogs, too.
*First aid kit: You can buy a special dog first aid kit but we just stock our regular kit with doggie extras.
