Blog Entry 46 of 65 comments about anything
My blog will be a place where I can write about anything and have fun. It may be about politics, life, food, or anything that my mind takes me to. I don't claim to be an expert on anything. I obtain my information from various places and what I write will be my feeling and opinions at that time. I am retired and have 66 years of life behind me. This includes military service, 45 years of experience in the working world, and married life.

Bill O’Reilly versus John McCain
Contributed by: Tom Treloar   on 5/10/2008

John McCain was in the Bill O'Reilly hot seat Thursday and Friday, the same as Hillary Clinton was the previous week. The largest impression I have from the McCain interview was, boring. In my opinion the Republicans pick many candidates that need lessons in charisma and warmth. I remember Bob Dole and Gerald Ford. Charisma and warmth may not be a major requirement to be president but it does increase your chances of being elected. I did notice that John fidgeted in his chair quite often and leaned forward often. The questions were similar to the questions Bill asked Hillary and I don't feel they were any easier. Some of John's responses surprised me. I have come to the conclusion that there are three liberals running for the office of the presidency. In my opinion conservatives are sitting out this election.

John McCain did not appear to be as relaxed as Hillary was. I think the interview was difficult for John. At the end of the interview I came to believe that John McCain does not really like Bill O'Reilly and he just consented to the interview because Hillary was on the week before. If one must compare, I think the Hillary interview was better for Hillary than the John interview was for John. It appears that Hillary will not be the nominated candidate but in this screwy election you can't count her out.

I am waiting to see if Barack Obama agrees to an interview with Bill. This way you can see how all candidates respond to the same interviewer. This levels the playing field by just having one interviewer instead of multiple interviewers who may have different styles and present questions differently. If Barack avoids the Bill hot seat I will wonder how he can handle terrorists and groups who hate America if he can't confront Bill O'Reilly. America does need a strong president during these tough times. I still have not made a decision on my vote. I will wait and see if Barack takes the Bill O'Reilly hot seat. This is only May; I have until November to decide.

I'm liking that you're summarizing these interviews so I don't have to watch them. I haven't cared for broadcast news since Walter Cronkite, officially making me a dinosaur. I pick brontosaurus, because my kids told me it didn't really exist.

I would like to see Obama pick John Edwards as his running mate.

Six months can make a big difference! People welcome a woman and a black, but I have seen discrimination against seniors.
