A group of 25 children ages 4 to 9 enjoyed two hours of fun and games during the Children’s Hour at Belmar. The Children’s Hour is an interactive program designed especially for young children on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays and put on by the Children’s Museum of Denver, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and Belmar.
Each drop-in, drop-off session is based on a theme such as ancient Egypt, building fossils or making music. The theme for the June 27 session (shown here) was all about the human body. “Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes” was a class that taught the children about the digestive system. With the help of “Stuffee” the human puppet, children saw what each organ in the body looks like and what it does.
“We’re having so much fun,” said Maria Garcia, head program director and coordinator. “We get kids from Lakewood, Golden and Denver. This is a safe place for kids to be and enjoy reputable programming.”
The cost for attending the event is $5 per child per session, which includes a snack. Programs run from June until September 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Block 7 Main Gallery, 445 S. Saulsbury St. in Lakewood. For more information about Children’s Hour, call 303-742-1520.
