In an age where schools are increasingly becoming under financial pressure, Jefferson High School students are doing something about it. They are coming together to perform routines, display art work and present literary achievements at Jefferson High School's first Arts Walk & Awards Night.
The special event will include a silent auction fundraiser for Jefferson High School's academic fund. Money raised for this fund will be spent in the classroom for items that directly impact student learning, such as supplies, textbooks, and presentation materials. The night will end with an awards ceremony honoring students who have earned recognition in each high school department.
Performances include:
Folklorico Mexican Dance
,
Drummin's Saints
(world percussion),
TROOP
(stomp team), Clown Club and Hip Hop Dance. Photography Club and Art Club will have artwork on display. The authors of
Listen to Us
Literary Magazine will be available for questions. "This event is a family, community and school awareness night. It is a way for Jefferson High School students to showcase their work, perform routines and show the community that we are a diverse school with many talents," says
Wendee Walter
, a teacher and Arts Walk organizer at Jefferson High School.
Come to the Jefferson Arts Walk on Thursday, May 4 from 5:30to7:30 p.m. It will be an evening of celebrating student talent in the performing, literary, musical and visual arts. Come for the silent auction and stay for the performances. For further information, contact
