Donald Margulies' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama
Dinner with Friends
Directed by Robert Kramer
(Denver, CO) - Suburban couple Gabe and Karen are international food writers who once introduced friend Beth to Tom, the latter two marrying and all four bonding in a cozy friendship. But when Tom leaves Beth for another woman and declares how unhappy he was all those years, Gabe and Karen find that their trust has been shattered. Over the course of the evening, we see both couples at different ages and stages of their lives. Tom and Beth's breakup drive Gabe and Karen to choose sides and begin questioning the strength of their own seemingly tranquil marriage.

Donald Margulies was born in Brooklyn, the son of a salesman, and was educated at SUNY Purchase. "Dinner with Friends" began as a commissioned work for the Actors Theater of Louisville and had its world premiere at the 1998 Humana Festival of New American Plays. It then played in California's South Coast Repertory and, quite unusually, in Paris before opening off Broadway in New York in 1999. Aside from winning the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the play also received the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play, the Dramatists Guild/Hull-Warriner Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award, and a Drama Desk Award nomination.
Denver's Vintage Theatre Productions- founded in 2002 over a vintage martini glass- is changing its nomadic ways and settling into the newly renamed Vintage Theatre (2119 E 17th Ave in Denver) for the entirety of its 2008 season.
