Dig in!
Edgewater is an almost one-square-mile city known for its historical values and vibrant community. At 2444 Depew St. sitsa locally designated landmark in Edgewater, the Orum House. The garden spaces adjacent to the Orum House have long served as a community gardening site. After several barren seasons the garden site is in need of a makeover. All Edgewater citizens are invited to participate in discussing and planning the garden spaces at the Orum House.
Please join on April 17, 7 p.m., at 2401 Sheridan Blvd. (Edgewater City Council Chambers) to help plan and design the garden and learn how you can create, tend and harvest your own gardening plot.
The following groups want to guide and participate in Edgewater garden revitalization -
- City of Edgewater Historic, Landmark Preservation and Arts Commissions
- City of Edgewater Parks & Recreation Board
- City of Edgewater Recycling Committee
- Denver Urban Gardens will share their knowledge and people-power to prepare the soil and water access at the gardens.
- Slow Food of Denver - an educational organization, is committed to providing children with opportunities to connect meaningfully with food by planting seeds, harvesting crops and preparing and eating food from the garden.
Edgewater schools and students can be involved in the community garden. The community garden will be a harvest of learning for students as well as a place for members of the community to educate students about Edgewater's historical significance.
