RED & JERRY'S HOSTS MUSICIAN'S BENEFIT SHOW
By J. Youmans
If you enjoy good music and want to get involved for a good cause, you are invited to join us on Sunday afternoon, April 1 from 2pm to 6pm at Red & Jerry's Entertainment Complex. You can sit back, listen or swing to jazz from the '30's and '40's with the Colorado Guitar Quartet from 2-3pm. And, if you enjoy good rock and roll from the '60's thru the '90's, you are invited to "rock for a reason" from 3-6pm with The Acoustix...a well-known six-person rock & roll band featuring rock classics with acoustic guitars, percussion and well-tuned vocal harmonies.
It was only a few weeks ago that many musicians around Denver heard that one of their own had been diagnosed with cancer, and did not have insurance. We realized then that it was our friend Rick Cook who is now in this most difficult situation. Rick stated that, "If I had just had some assistance that could just help cover the treatment expenses, I would appreciate it." He added, "I know that many people and families also have problems, and I'm just happy that you guys want to help me at this time in my life."
So it has been with the volunteer help of many individuals and companies that this afternoon of fun and music is now happening. They include Red & Jerry's, Elite Sound,
MillerLite, and various radio stations including KYGO, KOOL 105 and KOSI.
Admission is $7 at the door. Families are invited to bring the kids and let them play in the entertainment recreation rooms while the parents enjoy the music in the Events room.
