Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. I just love to see all the little kids dressed up in their favorite costumes and all the fun decorations that are put up. Not to mention it is a free excuse to eat candy all month long! This is the third Halloween I have worked for the City of Edgewater and I am excited for our upcoming Halloween Extravaganza. We used to hold the event in the recreation room on 25th and Gray St., but due to the high volume of children, we have moved it into the Edgewater Plaza gymnasium located on 2250 Eaton St. The event has gotten bigger each year. Last year, we had a "Great Pumpkin Egg Hunt," and as I dropped the eggs for the children to get, the overwhelming parade of excitement took me to the ground. I was dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Toto and I fell right onto the ground. It was pretty priceless. Needless to say, we are not doing a pumpkin egg hunt this year. However, we will have tons of fun games to play and prizes to win. This year we will be adding a Halloween magic show to the mix. We will also have face painting, ghosts darts, fortune tellers, spider ring tosses and many more spook-tacular activities. The cost for the event is $1 per child. I am still looking for volunteers to help with the event, so if interested in having a ton of fun, and helping out your local Parks and Recreation Director, please give me a call at 303-238-7803 Ext. 28.
Be sure to bring your child to the 2008 Halloween Extrvaganza!
Where: Edgewater Plaza, 2250 Eaton St.
When: Friday, Oct. 24
Time: 5-7 p.m.
Cost: $1 per child
