After deliberation, Spirits in the Wind Gallery in Golden and sculptor, Robin Laws agreed on the perfect theme piece for display in front of the gallery. "Swat Team" a lifesize bronze of burros.
Historic Golden has a mining background and burros was used as a tourist attraction. As told by the Golden Pioneer Museum, Charlie Quaintance leased burros to tourists who came to Golden. The burros followed a trail up the side of South Table Mountain. Quaintances' establishment was located on 13th St at the West side of Washington Avenue. His family also owned the dance hall located on Castle Rock as well as the funicular that ran up the side of South Table Mountain.
Coincidently, Spirits in the Wind Gallery which opened its doors in 1992 established on 13th St at the East side of Washington Ave.
but now resides at 1211 Washington Ave.
