Jeffco Design Excellence 2006 Award Winners Named
Awards recognize innovation in development

The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners and Planning & Zoning
division announced the winners of the Design Excellence 2006 Awards at a
ceremony this afternoon. These awards recognize site-specific work to
encourage and promote innovative design in the development community.

The winners are:

Sustainable Development Merit Award
Whitehouse Construction, LLC for the Heimbold Residence

Sustainable Development Honor Award
Barrett Studio Architects for the Jefferson Unitarian Church

Single Family Development Honor Award
Pine Gulch Development Company for The Preserve at Pine Meadows

Multifamily Development Honor Award
Lakewood Housing Authority Willow Glen Senior Living Community

Public Facilities Merit Award
Ewers Architecture PC for the Compass Montessori Secondary School

Public Facilities Merit Award
City of Lakewood for the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center

Public Facilities Merit Award

Public Facilities Honor Award
Britina Design Group and the City of Arvada for the Olde Wadsworth
Streetscape

Public Facilities Honor Award
Jefferson County Open Space for Flying J Ranch Open Space Park

Commercial Development Merit Award
Burkett Design for TCF Bank

Commercial Development Merit Award
C4i Design Group, Inc. for Evergreen Car Wash & Detail Facility

Industrial Development Honor Award
Richard C. Lubischer & Associates for McCoy Sales Corporation

Mixed Use Development Honor Award
City of Lakewood and Continuum Partners, Inc. for BelMar

Commissioners' Award
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for the Science &
Technology Facility

The program was open to any project constructed within the last 10
years in Jefferson County and more than 30 entries were submitted. The
county was pleased by the strong participation in the program this year.


Entries were judged by a professional panel whose members included
representatives from the American Planning Association, American
Institute of Architects, American Society of Landscape Architects and
county staff, among others.
