Christine Marquez named Mi Casa executive director

DENVER (June 13, 2008) - Christine Marquez first began her U.S. based work in nonprofits at Mi Casa, providing a life skills/GED program to teen mothers and later, launching an after-school program at Lake Middle School. Christine brings extensive experience in community collaborations, coalition-building, and partnerships to the agency. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Escuela de Guadalupe where her son is in the second grade. Christine received her Masters of Nonprofit Management from Regis University, where she was also a Colorado Trust Fellow, and her Bachelors in Political Science from UCLA. Christine is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.

"We are extremely excited that Christine has decided to return to the Mi Casa family, where she began her career in the non-profit sector. She comes to the agency with a great deal of passion and knowledge of Mi Casa. We are confident she is the right person to lead the agency to future successes", said Mi Casa's Board President, Theresa M. Solano.

Christine also brings more than 15 years of leadership and experience in the nonprofit sector to the Mi Casa Executive Director position. As a consultant, trainer and facilitator, Christine specialized in organizational development, strategic planning, governance issues and resource development. She worked with literally hundreds of organizations across Colorado, including many grassroots groups, entities serving communities of color, and large, multi-million dollar agencies. She is a skilled manager, with several years experience managing multiple staff, large budgets, and complex projects. In addition, Christine's career includes working for three foundations as a program officer, researcher and capacity builder.

Christine began her position as Executive Director on Monday, May 19. Everyone at Mi Casa is excited to have her back!! The mission of Mi Casa Resource Center for Women, Inc. is to advance the self-sufficiency of primarily low-income Latinas and youth. Mi Casa was founded in 1976 by eight Head Start mothers in Denver. These women understood that education and employment were vital for women to become successful on both a personal and economic level. As a result, Mi Casa was established to create these opportunities for adults and youth to become successful. For more than 30 years, Mi Casa has been committed to advancing the self-sufficiency of primarily low-income Latinas and youth in the Colorado community.
