The Edgewater Library hosted a Day of the Dead celebration Oct. 11. The event, Skeleton's Feast: Day of the Dead, featured presenters from the Museo de las Americas in Denver. The presenters showed a slide presentation and talked about the holiday Day of the Dead. The participants decorated sugar skulls and make tissue paper flowers to remember loved ones.
The program was put on by Knott's Kids of Jefferson County Libraries, an interactive literacy program named for our County Librarian of over 35 years, Bill Knott. Knott's Kids ties books to events or programs from metro area museums and cultural institutions. The idea is to get the kids interested in that one thing that will keep them reading into their future making them lifelong learners and library users.
The program will appear at the following Jeffco Library locations in October:
Wheat Ridge Library, 4 p.m. Oct. 23
Belmar Library, 1 p.m. Oct. 27
Lakewood Library, 7 p.m. Oct. 30
