LOCAL PARTNERSHIP BRINGS FARMERS' MARKET TO THE
CITY OF WHEAT RIDGE
The City of Wheat Ridge and LiveWell Wheat Ridge are partnering with the Denver Farmers' Market (DFM) to help promote the return of a Farmers' Market. This unique partnership will help educate consumers on the importance of buying locally grown fruits and vegetables, in addition to creating an atmosphere of healthy eating and living.
The Farmers' Market will take place every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning June 19th running through October 30th. The Wheat Ridge market will be located at 4252 Wadsworth Boulevard in front of the Ross' Dress for Less. The DFM will feature a wide variety of produce grown by local farmers.
As healthy eating becomes a greater issue of public concern, the Wheat Ridge Farmers' Market will provide the ideal resource to starting or maintaining a healthy diet. Research has proven that proper amount of fruits and vegetables each day are essential to promoting good health. To reach those amounts most people need to double the quantities of fruits and vegetables they currently consume. Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and fiber that protect people from diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. The Farmers' Market can even be a great way to get kids excited about eating healthy and supporting their community.
"The Farmers' Market is just one of the many great things that we are doing in Wheat Ridge to promote our community as a great place to live. It is a fantastic way to support the community and provide our citizens with some really great food. Make sure you come out every Thursday to support our farmers!
