Learn how the discovery of gold shaped Colorado's history. Kids will perform in a Readers Theater based on "Lucky Jake" by Sharon Hart Addy, illustrated by Wade Zahares and published by Houghton Mifflin Company in 2007.
Rounding out the program, a storyteller from the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden will portray Hiram "Hi" Wheeler of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad, a fictional character from the past. "Hi" Wheeler started his tenure as a brakeman on the railroad and witnessed many changes in the region. Don't miss tales of his travels in 19th century Colorado.
This program is for ages 6 and up. Tickets are required and are available for free at each library.
Knott's Kids "Gold Diggers" is presented in collaboration with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science's
GOLD exhibition Feb. 15 - June 8, 2008. An interactive display provided by the Denver Museum of Nature & Science will be available at each library prior to the program. This program is funded by the Library Foundation.
