Hello, My name is Mona and this is the story of my first date that I had with my husband 22 years ago. We went to the monster truck nationals in St. Louis, Missouri, and it was the best first date I have ever had. We continued to go every year after that until we married and moved to Colorado, where we attended the monster truck nationals at the National Western Events Center.
Shortly after we were married, we had a son, Brian. When he was about three years old, we started taking him to the monster truck events in Denver, and he absolutely loved them. As time went on, life became too busy to go again, and it has been over 15 years since we have been to see a monster truck show.
When Brian was seven, we had another son, Michael, who we have never been able to take to see a monster truck show, but he has grown to love them even more than his brother. One day at the dinner table, the conversation drifted back to when we took Brian to the shows. Surprised, Michael blurted "I love monster trucks, why haven't you taken me to see them?" We had always wanted to take him to a show, but owning our own small business means we have extremely slow business during the months of November, December and January, so purchasing tickets is near impossible. He always would play with model trucks as a child, destroying hotwheel cars and jumping gaps in the sandbox, it would be wonderful for him to see them in person.
Me and my husband would love to go see a monster truck event again, a tribute to old times. My eldest son would love to go again, to relive a childhood fascination. But most of all, my youngest son would love to see this wonderful show for the first time, something he will remember our family doing together for the rest of his life.
