This is it. The grand finale.
Today is my last day working as an intern for YourHub.com.
I could say that right now I am breathing a sigh of relief, but really, I'm not. Sure, today completes my final requirement as a senior at Kent Denver School, and yeah, after this all that is left is graduation, but I don't know.
Not to say I am
not excited about being done with high school, but the truth is I had fun here, and I learned a lot from this.
As I said in my original blog (if anyone ended up reading it), at first I wasn't sure that I'd be able to handle a job like this, or that I'd be even remotely good at it. After these short couple of weeks I think I could.
Working here was a completely invaluable experience for me. Coming into this I knew that I might be interested in writing, but at this point, to say that I am interested in journalism would be a grand understatement. Everything that I have done here has furthered my interest in a career like this one.
While here I have really done it all. On my first day I took photographs of a museum exhibit. On my second I observed the designing and layout process of the paper. From then on I took more photos, posted articles to the website, edited articles on the website, and even got to interview and write an article about Ethan Venn, an aquatics specialist. It will be in this week's
Faces edition of YourHub.com.
So now I am sitting in my cubicle, watching others continue with their work that they do day in and day out. Some are coming up with story ideas, others are organizing their desks and one is even checking his myspace page. Reflecting on this makes me realize, as I have said, that a career in journalism really is something that I am considering for my future. I would continue working here if I could, but I'm going to be gone this summer anyway, so it wouldn't serve much purpose.
Honestly, I don't think I could have chosen a better job for Kent's career internship experience (CIE). I loved every minute of working here.
To finish this up I just want to say thanks to all my coworkers who put up with all my stupid questions and the fact that I had no idea how to use the programs we used.
So thank you, I hope you felt as good about this as I did.
It has been fun, I'll try to keep posting and keep in touch.
