Kent Seniors Trying Their Hand at Something New

After seven long but very enjoyable years of attending Kent Denver School in Englewood, Colorado, we are finally here. The seniors of Kent Denver are done with their classes, have taken their exams, and are finally on their way towards something new.

Yesterday, Monday the 11th of May, we seniors started our "CIE," or Career Internship Experience. Spread over all of Denver the seniors have chosen a wide variety of jobs to attempt -- some of us went in the direction of working at bakeries or cupcake shops, a few decided to follow doctors, and others are working in law firms. Many of us have even chosen to work at our former elementary schools, and although I am not one of them I am still going to give a big shout out to Bromwell Elementary, located in the heart of Cherry Creek.

Personally, I think that working at a Putt Putt course was the best idea of all. What could be better than spending 6 hours a day playing mini-golf? I mean lets be serious...

But I chose this: I am working as an intern at Yourhub.com, writing, taking pictures, and maybe even editing.

Some people have asked me why I would want to do this, and I'll be honest when I say that I have never once participated in or even contributed to the Kent newspaper. In 9th, 10th, and maybe even part of 11th grade I just did not want to. In retrospect, however, I truly wish I had. During the second semester of my Junior year, and the first of my Senior year, I realized more and more that this might be what I want to do when I grow up and get older (although being a fireman still sounds pretty good...). So here I am.

Yesterday, today, and for the next three weeks I will be working here, sitting in my temporary cubicle, and hoping to have more opportunities to go out and take some more photos. I'm calling it another chance. Maybe this is what I want to do later in life. If it isn't, this will certainly be a good way for me to find out.

Am I even cut out for this type of job? Who knows...

I guess we'll find out in the next couple weeks.
