Charmaine in the city
I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. January may not be the most ideal month for moving, but
Damon
and I managed to transfer all of our stuff this past weekend from our apartment in the DTC to
The Marks
on Hampden and Gilpin.
Aside from a weather hiccup Saturday morning, we had a relatively smooth move. Damon's family and some of my friends all pitched in to help us Friday and Saturday. You really don't know how much stuff you own until you have to move it. I was pretty ruthless, though. I donated a good portion of my clothes and shoes to
Goodwill
and tossed out old fashion magazines.
Although a little sore today, I'm excited to be living in our new apartment and being an Englewood resident. I think our cat,
Chester
,will be loving it, too.
The one bad spot during the move? While cleaning out our fridge, I ruined one of my sweaters. My advice: Never wear your favorite clothes when working with bleach. And always know where you packed your socks for when you have to go back to work the next day.
Right now, I'm wearing my awesome green
Nike
soccer socks. Appropriate work attire.

"You really don't know how much stuff you own until you have to move it." Exactly! I plan to print that quote out in large type the next time Bear and I get ready to move. We're talking tough about having some cleaning weekends to thin out our possessions.
