Blog Entry 84 of 92 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

Buying panties makes the world go 'round
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 2/1/2008

I read with great glee and slight vindication this morning an article from the Rocky Mountain News about how underwear sales help the national and global economy.

See, during college and even up to now, I've been teased by friends for having an extravagant collection of underwear and socks. I tell them it's because you can never have enough underwear and socks. Especially during emergencies.

My weakness is shopping at Victoria's Secret. I love that store! Not just for the obvious, but I like buying the lotions and perfumes to give to my friends. And since I have a Victoria's Secret credit card, I receive "deals" and other discounts for purchasing clothes from them. Ahem, underwear.

Most of these purchases are not practical. (I won't elaborate further.) However, my socks, for example, aren't the type to survive a harsh winter here in Colorado. They're cutesy with monkey or duck designs on them and probably more appropriate for a 12-year-old than a 25-year-old journalist.

Nonetheless, I feel better knowing that those past purchases helped the U.S. and world economy. And any future purchases will keep it thriving. So ladies, the next time you buy a panty or bra from Victoria's Secret or your favorite store, know that you are doing your part in helping our country's economy grow.

I know I'm getting old, but it just aggravates me paying so much for so little fabric.

My wife used to enjoy shopping at Victoria's Secret. The interest dropped when the contours of her body dropped. Enjoy it while you can.
