Blog Entry 74 of 93 Charmaine in the city

I've called the Denver area home for more than two
decades now. But this urban/mountain city is still full of surprises. I'll be posting my adventures here, as I explore local eateries, shops and sharing birthday and vacation photos. And once in a while, I'll throw in a music, movie or food review. I hope to keep this blog interactive, so don't be shy to suggest places I should visit. And check it out: I'm on Brendan's List. Rock on!

Solid Rockies
Contributed by: Charmaine Robledo/YourHub.com   on 10/16/2007

It has been an unbelievable and incredible post-season for the Colorado Rockies. It really felt like it came out of nowhere. Now, they are the crowned National League champions after their 6-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Oct. 15. The Rockies just seem to be living out some sort of Cinderella story.

(Read the Rocky Mountain News or Denver Post articles about last night's win.)

I'm not a baseball fan. I like to watch, go to Coors Field when I can, but I don't follow the game. My friend Jennifer invites me to watch the Rockies once in a while, and I go to hang out with her, down some beers and hot dogs. I still enjoy the game, but win or lose, I don't get worked up.

She invited me to the wild card game against the San Diego Padres on Oct. 1. I was surprised she even scored tickets for the game, let alone four for me, her and two other friends. We were in the Rockpile, but we still had good seats. The game was nail-biting, going into 13 innings. I left at the top of the 12th. Yes, I did. I was so tired that night and as the game exceeded four hours, I couldn't stay. They won anyway, so I don't think my absence did anything to hurt or help them.

Now, both Rockies and fans have their eyes on the World Series. My managing editor, Fairlight, wrote in her blog how you can score tickets to those games. I'll be sure to catch the World Series on TV and I'm crossing my fingers for a grand victory for the Rockies.

And hey, my favorite color is purple, so that's gotta count for something.

Jamie, I'm closer to being a Prince fan than Donny Osmond. And for a long time, I only liked Barney because he had a Filipino girl on his show.

Did you see ... they just came out with a little Dinger paper guy! Yes, he is the goofyest mascot on earth, but the doll is too cute! I think I must build one ...

I love those little paper dudes! So, if you like purple, are you a Donny Osmond and Prince fan (I am omitting Barney for obvious reasons)?
