Blast-Tech wins the award for the Best Place to Get Something Sandblasted!!
For many years Gary Nardi owned a company in the Pine Lane shopping center called Blast-Tech. He was the go-to guy for sand-blasting vintage cars being restored and on weekends his shop was a "hang-around-the-fort" place for guys restoring everything from Model T's to 57 Buicks. Gary also had the best collection of auto girlie calendars around and the Rigid Girls were the best.
Anyway, Parker and a new tenant in the center made life difficult and Gary moved over to Englewood, where the auto restoration trade is booming. I am selling a spray machine for a friend and decided to repaint it. My father, who was one of those "If you're going to do it half-assed, don't do it at all", kind of guys and so I decided to have Gary blast it prior to repainting.
Gary's new shop is twice as big and he is doing everything from vintage cars to people's metal antiques, such as chairs, cream separators, you name it. He does trailers and can handle multiple medias so he can do airplanes, fiber-glass, the full range. Right now he is doing new landing lights that will be powder-coated before they get installed at DIA.
Parker lost a great little business and a great guy when Gary had to move. But, like most things in life, it turned out better for him and the business and Englewood gained a great niche business. I like specialty companies like Gary's Blast-Tech because they employ skilled labor and are light-industrial.
If you are ever in the neighborhood, I suggest you stop in and see Gary. His annual party is to die for as all of the guys who have restored the best cars in Denver show their stuff while his wife dishes up the best mixed bean, green chile stew you will ever taste. Good business, and a super competent, honest, ethical owner. Just what Colorado needs to build its future economy around.
