I am seeking information about affordable adoption options or about financial aid for couples who want to adopt.
Last year one of my daughters had a beautiful premie who is now thriving despite a tough beginning. For that I am so grateful! My daughter has always wanted to have at least 2 children but unfortunately pregnancy would create too much danger for her own health so she cannot conceive again. This is a heartbreak for her as she really wants Jonathan to have at least one sibling.
Here's the issue - the expense of adoption. My daughter and son-in-law have a moderate income. He works for a small family business and she is very lucky to have a flexible boss who allows her to be a stay at home Mom and still have some income and health insurance coverage. She loves being a Mom! They have a nice middle class home in a quiet neighborhood but do not have savings etc. that could pay for adoption - especially if it is going to cost $10,000 to $30,000! Thank goodness for the government funded premie programs that have helped them through the beginning of Jonathan's life. Those programs were absolutely necessary for them. Good for the government for helping parents whose children are born prematurely and have to be hospitalized in NICUs.
Obviously there are costs involved but I still hope to find good, reliable adoption sources that are affordable. If you or anyone you know has information about affordable adoption options or even financial aid for couples who would like to adopt, I would so greatly appreciate hearing about them. I thank everyone in advance for any information/advice that you can offer. Martha Lucas/DrMLucas@AcupunctureWoman.com.
