Hank Brown to Share his Vision for Education

Outgoing University of Colorado president Hank Brown will deliver the keynote address at the 14th Annual Leadership for Tomorrow Luncheon on Thurs. Mar. 6 at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center, 7800 E. Tufts Ave.

Brown, who represented Colorado in the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, has long been an advocate for public education. He will share his vision for the future of K-12 and higher education in Colorado when he speaks to more than 800 corporate and community supporters during the luncheon, which is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation and benefits the Cherry Creek School District.

"President Brown recognizes that the quality of life in Colorado is directly tied to the quality of public education here," said Monte Moses, Superintendent of the Cherry Creek School District. "His leadership is helping shape the future of Colorado's secondary and post-secondary educational system, which is vital to the future of our children and our state."

During the luncheon, 14 exceptional high school students will be recognized for leadership and academic excellence. The honorees are:

• Brittany Hjalmquist and John Gaipa - Cherokee Trail High School

• Emily Parker and Nahrek Hartoonian - Cherry Creek High School

• Shannon Fender and Richard Harbin - Cherry Creek P.R.E.P.

• Deann Williams and Corey Mable - Eaglecrest High School

• Ashley Walters and Jacob Bock - Grandview High School

• Cathy Lam and Andrew Magnuson - Overland High School

• Kallie Powers and Daniel Wetmore -Smoky Hill High School

The mission of the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation is to expand excellence in education by funding initiatives that impact student achievement. Since 1994, the foundation has raised and distributed more than $5 million dollars to fund programs benefiting students and teachers throughout the district.
