"Colorado’s Finest" students win MMYC Award

Ten exceptional students from Colorado's Finest Alternative High School in Englewood were recipients of the 2008 Metro Mayors and Commissioners Youth Award (MMYCA).

The MMYCA recognizes teenagers who have overcome personal adversity and created positive change in their lives. Currently nine counties participate in this program that provides business, community and civic leaders an opportunity to actively demonstrate their support for young people in their communities.

The Colorado's Finest Alternative High School recipients were:

Englewood/local level: Diane Gutierrez, Kayla Hall, Jennifer DeHerrera, Gabby Garcia, Anna Kirkpatrick, Mazie Torres, Clarissa Lovato, Samantha Sanchez, Nick Lennon and Jill Scudder.

Arapahoe County level: Anna Kirkpatrick,Jennifer DeHerrera , Samantha Sanchez, Kayla Hall and Diane Gutierrez.

Metro-wide level: Kayla Hall and Jennifer DeHerrera
