Linda Newell State Senate Campaign kickoff party
Contributed by: Linda Newell on 7/3/2008

LITTLETON - Saying she wants to "bring more unity and cooperation to our political environment," Littleton businesswoman Linda Newell will officially launch her State Senate District 26 campaign at a kickoff party July 10.

The kickoff will be from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Columbine Lakes Clubhouse, 6173 S. Platte Canyon Road, in Littleton. The public is invited. The party will feature music, refreshments, drinks and an opportunity to meet the candidate.

"I've become more and more concerned over the years as I've watched political debate at all levels of government become more polarized and contentious," Newell said. "We're neighbors with a common goal of quality living in Colorado. We're all in this together. We live, work, play and pray together. And, ultimately, we all win or lose together. I decided to become a candidate to do my part to find common ground between Democrats, Republicans and Independents and create win-win sensible solutions that work for the vast majority of us in the political middle."

Newell expects to focus on "the kind of economic issues that affect every one of us - an educated workforce with good Colorado jobs, affordable healthcare and not having to worry if there's going to be enough water to drink or clean air to breathe."

Newell is a single mother of two, business consultant and active community volunteer who has lived in Littleton for 16 years. Her community involvement includes supporting activities at her daughters' schools in Littleton, volunteering for Girl Scouts, The Conflict Center, church activities, domestic violence programs and political campaigns. She also served on the Denver Metro Regional Workforce Development Council and participated in the Governor's Taskforce on Workforce Development. She's volunteered with the American Red Cross, Special Olympics and the March of Dimes, and served as the Education Foundation Chairperson for a chapter of the American Association of University Women.

Senate District 26 includes Littleton and parts of Englewood, Sheridan, Bow Mar, Cherry Hills and Cherry Hills Village.
