Kids’ book sprouts wings

Fielder's Photography, McAdam's Poetry Soars

The book has been out for less than two months, and it is flying off the shelves.

Do You See What I See? is a collaboration between two local artists: John Fielder, Colorado's premier nature photographer, and award-winning children's author Claudia Cangilla McAdam.

The book challenges not only young readers, but those of all ages, to recognize that nature's details are often as magnificent and mysterious as nature's landscapes.

For each photo in Do You See What I See?, a cutout and inspired poetry verse explore the mysteries of a small detail of the natural world, while turning the page reveals its place in one of nature's grand landscapes.

"John Fielder's photos are absolutely beautiful," says McAdam, herself a nature photography enthusiast. "His work inspired me to pen the text for the book which appeals not only to kids, but to their parents, grandparents, and teachers as well."

Fielder and McAdam will be making local presentations and giving readings of Do You See What I See? followed by book signings at the several area events on Saturday, December 2:

Sat., Dec. 2, 11:00 a.m. at Borders Book Store, 8501 W. Bowles Ave., Littleton 303-933-6787

Sat., Dec. 2, 12:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble. 8136 West Bowles Ave., Littleton, 303-948-9565

Sat., Dec. 2, 2:00 p.m. at Borders Book Store, 9515 County Line Road, Englewood, 303-708-1735

Sat., Dec. 2, 3:30 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 8374 S. Willow Street, Lone Tree, 303-706-9660

"We're looking forward to sharing Do You See What I See? with others who appreciate the beauty Colorado has to offer," McAdam says. "We believe kids will be intrigued as they stretch their imaginations and broaden the ways they think about the natural world."
