Flu shot day
Contributed by: SM Merchant on 10/26/2007

The Sunny and Cher(i) Show was ready to perform at the Englewood Meridian, 3455 S. Corona Street, but there were fewer than a dozen people seated in the entertainment room! The two performers carried a roomful of props up to the fourth floor, realizing most of the residents were on the first floor getting their flu shots! But this is show business, right? The show must go on! As Cheri always says, "However many people come to a show, whether it's 5 or 50, that is the perfect number."

Cheri and Sunny performed a vaudeville-variety show, which revolved around the theme of Living on the Sunny Side of Life. The performance included comedy sketches, music, singing, jokes and magic tricks. Then the entertainers asked if they could do an encore. The residents were delighted to preview Sunny and Cheri's new material.

Cheri Seeton sang her original story-song based on the immensely popular Aesop's fable, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and Sunny Marie Hackman told The Woman at the Well, the inspiring Biblical story based on John 4. Everything does work out for the best! The small group connected with each other and to the performers, and by the end of the afternoon, everyone had made new friends. Each resident left with a balloon sculpture made by Cheri, who is also a balloon artist.
