The comedy team of
Sunny Hackman
and
Cheri Seeton
, aka
TheSunny and Cher(i) Show
, made an encore appearance at the Englewood Meridian, 3455 S. Corona Street, with an early evening vaudeville show which started out with a lively, humorous dialogue between Miserable Moonique and Cheery Chicken.
The two animals bantered back and forth as Miserable Moonique found something to dread about every day and Cheery Chicken found something positive in every situation. In the end, Cheery Chicken convinced Miserable Moonique that life really is grand; it's all a matter of perspective.
The duo engaged the residents in singing their favorite song,
"Keep on the Sunny Side of Life,"
written by
Ada Blenkhorn
back in 1899. Ada took care of her nephew who was confined to a wheelchair. Every day Ada's nephew would ask her to push him down the

. That constant repetitive phrase was the inspiration for Ada writing the song. While we can't always change our circumstances, we can always change our disposition. That's why living with a

ttitude is the theme that Sunny and Cheri try to convey in all their shows.
Magic tricks, interspersed throughout the comedy sketches, kept the residents on their toes. A trunk full of unique costumes made the evening truly vaudevillian. Both Sunny and Cheri are balloon artists, so making balloon sculptures at the end of each show is Sunny and Cheri's way of interacting with each resident on a personal basis and getting to hear some of their stories as well.
One of the residents commented, "That was really fun. I'm glad you came back." The laughter from the residents is the fuel that keeps the team motivated to keep on keepin' on.
