Encore School of the Arts is pleased to announce a unique collaboration
with Collegiate Academy of Colorado. Collegiate and Encore have come
together in an unprecedented offering of arts training for children from
kindergarten through 12th grade, and adults as well.
Jacklyn Israel,
Encore's executive director, was driven to bring the
arts back into the schools after seeing the fine and performing arts
programs whittled down to almost nothing due to budget restraints.
Disturbed by the lack of training for our talented youth, she began
submitting collaboration proposals in the summer to the various public
charter and private schools in the southwest Littleton area in Jefferson
County.
"It was so exciting to see these schools were interested in bringing a
full fine arts program to their students," she says. "I heard back from
each and every school I submitted my proposal to. They were all fine
schools, but in the end, I chose CAC. Their staff was very proactive and
seemed to want to put a lot of energy into a joint program, and wanted
it as soon as we could make the arrangements."
The magic happened in January of this year. Encore School of the Arts
moved to Collegiate Academy, Jefferson County's arts-centered charter
school, and Israel began working on joint efforts immediately. "We still
have a lot of dust," she says, "but programs are already in progress."
Collegiate Academy of Colorado, a Core Knowledge based independent
public school, is dedicated to providing education programs with high
academic standards and a full curriculum that includes the arts. The
school was granted its charter in 1994 in Jefferson County District R-1,
and consists of three schools-elementary, middle school, and high
school. CAC's smaller class size and varied student groupings encourage
mastery of subjects as well as an interest in humanities.
Dr.
William Eggers
, director and principal of CAC, says that the
relationship between CAC and Encore is intended to create a seamless
fine arts training facility for all students. This is a perfect match
for Israel's vision of the collaboration: "I want the CAC/Encore
partnership to create 'the place' for kids to obtain their fine and
performing arts training. Together, Encore and Collegiate will provide
the group classes, private instruction, academic training, and intensive
theatre and choir training that no other public school or arts academy
can offer."
Encore School of the Arts offers classes in most musical instruments,
both private and group, voice, choir, dance, band ensemble, and theatre.
Encore has 12 qualified staff members to ensure each student receives
the very best training in the fine arts.
Collegiate Academy of Colorado, originally the Sci-Tech Academy, was
founded by concerned parents who wanted smaller class sizes and teachers
trained in learning styles. Since 1994 the school has grown to an
enrollment of 531 students, and now offers a college readiness
curriculum designed to be flexible around a student's learning style.
Together, Encore and CAC are poised to become the premier academy for
talented students of all ages. For more information on the unique
program at Collegiate Academy of Colorado, call them at *303-972-7433 or

Encore and CAC are located at 8420 S. Sangre de Cristo Rd., Littleton,
Colorado, 80127. *For more information on the partnership, Encore's
upcoming performances, *or enrollment in their programs, please call
