Vintage Theatre presents
Brilliant Traces
by Cindy Lou Johnson
Directed by Len Matheo
(Denver, CO) In a remote cabin in the wilds of Alaska, as a blizzard rages, a lonely figure lies sleeping under a heap of blankets. He is awakened by the insistent knocking of a distraught and exhausted young woman dressed in full bridal regalia, who bursts into the cabin, throwing herself on his mercy. She has fled Arizona to escape her impending marriage, but after sleeping for two days straight her vigor and combativeness return.
Both characters wounded and embittered by life explore the pain of the past and, in time, consider the possibilities of the present. In the end their very isolation proves to be the catalyst that allows them to break through the web of old grief's and reach out for the solace and sanctuary which only self-awareness and compassion for the plight of others can bestow.
