On the evening of Friday, May 2 Denver Christian will hold its semi-annual Fine Arts Festival. This year the festival will have a pan-Asian theme, but will still feature student performances, "hands-on" options for children of all ages, K-12 art displays, refreshments and more. Highlights will be Tai Kwon Do demonstrations, performances by
Christina Yeh's professional dance troupe and Taiko drumming. The fair is open to the public free of charge on the high school campus at 2135 S. Pearl in Denver from 6-9 pm.
The Denver Christian Fine Arts Festival has become a much anticipated event. Since it was first held in 1998, thousands of people have attended to enjoy musical performances by DC students of all ages, view award-winning student art, enjoy picnic foods and participate in fun activities. For each fair, the high school campus is transformed to fit the fair's theme.
One gymnasium is utilized for individual student performances, while the other gym is transformed into a "park" and is the center for group performances and refreshments. Classrooms are used for a variety of fun activities under the direction of local artists, teachers and art students.
This year the food court will be selling Asian foods provided by Panda Express and there will also be a coffeehouse with poetry readings and musical entertainment. "Creation Stations" for children will include bracelet making, silk hoops, calligraphy, origami, fish windsocks, a fishing pond and more.
