The Lost Boys of Sudan come to Koelbel Library
Contributed by: Judy Kahn on 5/16/2008

For the month of June, portraits and stories of The Lost Boys of Sudan will be at the Joan Duncan Gallery in the Koelbel Library.

In 2001, the United Nations brought 50 Sudanese boys to Denver from a refugee camp in Kenya where they had been living for 9 years. As young children they had witnessed the attacks on their villages and the murders of their families.

Since coming here they have found jobs, become citizens, and worked hard to pursue their drive to become educated. In their words, "Education is my mother and my father".

Although their histories are the same, their personal stories are unique. Please come to Koelbel Library to learn more about these remarkable survivors.
