LAUGHTER IS JOGGING ON THE INSIDE
Contributed by: Mary Schreiner on 1/3/2007

Another New Year and another set of resolutions!
Do weight loss and physical fitness top your list?
Don't forget to add "laugh at least 15 times a day" to that roster.
Are you one of those people who think that life is too serious, or you
are too busy, to laugh, giggle, or even smile?
Then think of laughter as another essential form of exercise.
It has been proven to hasten physical and mental healing, lower blood
pressures, regulate blood sugars, and reduce the release of cortisol
(the stress hormone) so lessen the effect of stress upon your body and mind.
Plus, it feels great - and makes you so much more fun to be around!
Laughter Clubs are beginning to proliferate in the United States. You can
find them in hospitals, recreation centers, and even businesses have them to
help with team building.
We love sit-coms, and they even provide laugh tracks for those who do
not possses a sense of humor. We pay money at Comedy Clubs for
people to make us laugh, and laughing with a group seems to enhance
the experience. Laughter is contagious!
So, if you are low on laughs and would like to learn how to get back that
childlike glee, attend one of the LEARN TO LAUGH classes.
There will be one offered at Colorado Free University at Lowry
on January 27th ( www.freeu.com) and one at Arapahoe Community
College on February 7th ( www.arapahoe.edu/communityed ).
