A local retailer on Santa Fe changes its stock from hot tubs to Christmas lights to cash in on the holiday $pirit each year. However earlier this month their Christmas spirit seemed all Burnt Out. As many shoppers rush all over town to get their holiday displays in perfect working order, they bring their kids with them. This particular retailer wants you to come in, wants you to buy from them, wants your money, BUT doesn't want your kids touching their stuff! Buyer beware- this Christmas/Hot tub "rig it up and make some money" store is not kid friendly!
In the 15 minutes we were there, we saw children frollicking to and fro. There were children in awe of the lights and twinkling displays, and very enticed by the candy machines near the front door. That is the plan, right? Put some yummy stuff in machines and while the adults are standing there waiting in line to pay, the children will beg for money and soon the parents will dig through purses and pockets, hand over their change and buy some over priced nuts or candy coated chocolates! Our daughter was in a group of about four kids over by the candy machines. She had purchased a handful of nuts while we were handing over our credit card.
Unfortunately, this is what else we witnessed; one nice young lady working there and
calmly
saying to children "Slow Down Please", "Put That Back" etc... and two old grumpy people spouting out "NO RUNNING","DON'T TOUCH", "DON'T GO BY THERE", "NO" AND "I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH THAT".The old woman was so rude. Short, kurt replies poured from her mouth, even to other employees. She obviously had fogotten who Christmas and the extravagant displays were really for. They are for
the children
and the child in each of us, to remember our Saviors birth, and feel exuberant joy! She did not want the children touching the candy machine anymore, and she made it painfully clear. We felt apalled by her tone of voice to our children and others. We asked for our credit card back, left our Christmas lights sitting on the counter and went to two other competitors and spent our money. We invested more time, paid for more gas, and will not return to All City Pools again. Not even for a hot tub!
