Up Close & Personal
Contributed by: Bill Holland on 10/4/2005

Way back when, in 1953, Englewood, Co. had a "Golden Jubilee" celebration to honor their 50 yr. existence.  I was only a senior (17 yrs. old)  at the time, and most of  the men in town were  growing beards. Since I had a part-time school job at the camera store ( Home Hobby) and was involved with the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, the Jr. Rotarians, and other civic groups at such a young age, I wanted to grow my own beard.  My mother was not too happy at the time since this was my graduation year.  Well, I did graduate with a full beard, trimmed & neat, and it is definitely one of the things I still remember about those days.
