The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office announces it's 2007 Volunteer Victim Assistance Training schedule. Volunteer Victim Advocates provide support and information to victims of crime immediately following the incident, by responding to the scene of a crisis, the hospital, or any other location requested by the Sheriff's Office.
The Arapahoe County Victim Assistance Program provides 24 hour a day, 7 day a week crisis response to crime victims. Volunteers are trained to provide crisis intervention, short-term support, referral information, victim's compensation information, crime prevention information, case status information, public awareness and transition to the court system.
Training for volunteer victim advocates will take place one evening during the week and Saturday mornings beginning in February and continuing through March. Applicants will be required to submit to a background investigation including a polygraph examination.
