Contributed by: Jill Wilson on 9/12/2007

Editor's note: YourHub.com is asking candidates running for office in the November election to complete a questionnaire. Look for the Q&As to run in the print editions up to the Nov. 6 election.

My name: Jill Wilson

Office I'm running for: City Council At-large, Englewood

Age: 56

My family: Son, Lucas, daughter in-law, Mindy, granddaughter Logan and dog Grace

What I do: I am semi-retired from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, as a Professional Research Assistant, Community Services and work at retail shop

My favorite place in town to hang out: The library and dog parks

What I like most about living here: Hands down, the sense of community

My interests and hobbies: Community service, reading, gardening, and yoga

What is my favorite thing to cook: BBQ brisket of beef, Mexican dishes and grilled vegetables

People who inspired me (and how): My parents have inspired me the most. They lived the American Dream. They had nothing, but with a strong work ethic, were able to have comforts, they never dreamed of having.

How I have contributed to the community:

* Code Enforcement Advisory Committee
* Strategic Planning Committee, Diversity Team, Englewood School District
* Englewood Dog Park Task Force
* Englewood Unleashed (non-profit)
* Project Angelheart
* Neighborhood Watch, block captain

What are the biggest issues facing Englewood now:

* Continue to balance the budget, and maintain adequate reserves
* Maintain a safe, clean, healthy, and attractive city
* Promote partnerships with current and new businesses, to ensure economic growth
* Provide and maintain a quality infrastructure
* Partner with the Englewood School District and Board of Education, to address students leaving the district
