ArapahoeCounty accepting applications for 2008 Community Development Block Grants

County will award funds for projects serving low-to-moderate income residents

Littleton, Colo. --- ArapahoeCounty is accepting applications for its 2008 Community Development Block Grant program. ArapahoeCounty and the City of Centennial will review applications and award CDBG funds to organizations with proposals that benefit low-to-moderate income citizens. Funding possibilities include, but are not limited to property acquisition, building improvements, parks and infrastructure, staffing, services and housing.

Earlier this year, ArapahoeCounty awarded more than $1 million in CDBG funds for public facilities, services and housing. Award recipients included the ColoradoCenter for the Blind, Rebuilding Together, Gateway Battered Women's Shelter, House of Hope, ThirdWayCenter, Jewish Family Services, Project Angel Heart, North Littleton Promise and Doctors Care. CDBG funds are provided to ArapahoeCounty from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

"We're thrilled to make these funds available to help recipients improve the quality of life for our local residents," said Arapahoe County Commissioner Pat Noonan. "We're excited to see the quality and ingenuity of proposals from worthwhile projects and organizations this year."

Application criteria:

· Applications must be from non-profit and/or government organizations.

· All applications for Arapahoe County CDBG funds must assist low-or-moderate income residents of ArapahoeCounty, excluding the City of Aurora; applications for City of Centennial CDBG funds must assist low-or-moderate income residents of Centennial.

· Applications must be submitted on or before Oct. 15, 2007. Funds will become available for winning submissions in June 2008.

Applicants can pick up forms at 1690 W. Littleton Blvd., 3 rd floor, Littleton, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Centennial, 12503E.
