Purpose and Passion: The Ultimate Prevailers

Born into a family of six children in a remote lumber-mill town of northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia on January 22, 1962, I knew well the taste and smell of
purpose
and
passion.
My parents lived these qualities before my eyes. They endured 20
feet
of rain per year, relatively primitive living conditions, limited resources, and constant difficulty. Why?
Purpose
and
passion
drove them. My parents moved to this rugged and remote town because they believed deeply these lonely and desolate lumbermen and fishermen needed their help, love, and encouragement. My father worked in the mill, pastored the town church, counseled, supported, and helped these people in any way possible. This purpose sustained us and fueled a daily passion to make a difference. We were indelibly happy. While the stories of human conquest throughout the ages have many facets and faces, one constant character weaves its way through each and every victory--the prevailing drive of
purpose
and
passion
. It will be no different this Sunday. Sure altitude, attitude, preparation, excecution, momentum, and a variety of other factors will play into the outcome, but at this time of year and in this type of game it will come down to determination and drive, the expressions of purpose and passion. Let us remember, these are
men
who take the field Sunday. Like us, their ultimate challenges are faced and overcome from deep within their hearts. I understand this reality. I have followed in my parent's footsteps and am giving my life to helping and supporting our men and women in our military--a people who understand purpose and passion well. This Sunday, as I celebrate forty-four years of living for a purpose which really matters, so our Broncos, and all of Colorado, will be celebrating victory--a prevailing victory won both on the field through excecution and from the heart through
purpose
and
passion
.
