Although there's a rodeo in Cody every night from June through August, the biggest ones are during the
Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede, which takes place July 1-5.
I went last night (July 1), and it was pretty fun. More entertaining than I expected, considering I have about nil interest in rodeo (the only one I'd been to before was a gay rodeo I covered for YourHub.com at the Jeffco Fairgrounds).
There was a mix of people there, from locals to American tourists to foreign tourists.
There were seven events: bareback riding, tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing and bull riding. Of course, the bull riding was the best (only two of about nine riders actually made it eight seconds for a score). If you want to know the basics about any of the events, click

It started pouring rain as soon as the competition started, I don't have a telephoto lens yet and it was nighttime, so most of my photos were blurry (even though I took about 250), but some are artistic blurry instead of just blurry.
