The View from Between the Mule's Ears
Contributed by: Kim Price   on 12/14/2006

I have to say that I was very disappointed in our press coverage today of the illness of the Senator from South Dakota. The man has just undergone a life threatening surgical operation and all they could talk about was the balance in the Senate between the Donkey's and the Trunks (Democrats and Republicans). And let us not confuse donkeys and mules - two very different creatures with very different attitudes.

I keep thinking about the Senators family - wondering if his wife was rushed to our nation's capitol - wondering if he has children. How is his family coping with this very personal disaster during this holiday season?

Now I am the last person to want a tie breaking vote in the Senate that must be resolved by our esteemed Vice President, but let us not forget that Senators have familys and life threatening diseases and emergencies. They need our prayers and compassion this holiday season.
