Rotary's dream for the future

ROTARY'S DREAM
FOR THE FUTURE

#1. HEALTH CARE FOR A HEALTH WORLD - Rotary clubs are encouraged to undertake projects which will improve and enhance the health and lives of people of the world in projects related to preventable and controllable dis-eases and health issues.

#2. HUNGER - Rotary clubs are encouraged to be actively involved in helping people become self-sufficient in food and preventing food waste.

#3. CLEAN WATER FOR EVERY COMMUNITY - Rotary clubs are encouraged to commit through projects that address the specific water needs of each community.

#4. DISASTER RELIEF - Rotary clubs are encouraged to expand their role in providing rapid response relief to those people and communities involved in large scale disasters. Rotary International is encouraged to seek assistance at the highest levels of the United Nations to encourage national governments to permit the timely processing and transportation of disaster relief goods and supplies to areas needing emergency humanitarian aid without delay of customs fees or other official policies.

#5. CHILDREN - CARE AND EDUCATION - Rotary clubs are encouraged to commit to projects that directly implement the Rights of Children, so that all children have opportunities for basic education, health, food and growth to meaningful adulthood. Rotary clubs are encouraged to reach out to orphaned and abandoned children by encouraging adoption and providing for their needs.

#6. ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY ISSUES - Rotary clubs are encouraged to continue their focus on environmental concerns with "Preserve Planet Earth."

#7. INVOLVEMENT OF WOMEN ROTARIANS - Woman Rotarians should receive full, international acceptance in an environment which supports dignity, respect, and opportunities afforded to all Rotarians.

#8. PEACE, GOODWILL, AND UNDERSTANDING - Rotary clubs around the world are strongly encouraged to foster peace though international friendships and humanitarian service, thus reaffirming the Object of Rotary.

#9. ENHANCE ROTARY MEETINGS - Rotary clubs should seek new vitality through * more interesting formats; * greater membership participation; * creative programs and discussions to regenerate and improve interest in Rotary club meetings among the younger generation; * positive training for club leaders to offer revitalized weekly club operations; * inclusion of Rotary information in weekly meetings; * enhancing the image of club presidents as important Rotary leaders; * require all club presidents to attend president-elect training as a condition for holding office.

#10. YOUTH AND YOUNG PEOPLE - Rotary clubs are encouraged to develop programs for the benefit of young people.

#11. MEMBERSHIP - A dynamic 5-year action plan should be implemented to retain and expand Rotary's membership to assure that Rotary International remains a vigorous, energetic service organization.

#12. ROTARY CLUB MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS - Types of membership in Rotary should be simplified and creative new options for membership should be developed.

#13. ROTARY VOLUNTEERS - The benefits of The Rotary Foundation has been expanded to provide opportunities for Rotary volunteers to use our talents and experience in both short (10 day) and long-term (1 month) assignments

#14. USE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND NEW TECHNOLOGY - Rotary clubs and Rotary International are encouraging the increased use of new technologies with R.I. World Headquarters being an established center to support global communications between clubs and districts during conferences, conventions, institutes, and training activities.

#15. PUBLIC IMAGE OF ROTARY - Rotary clubs are encouraged to insure that our programs in the community are of sufficient quality that they command the attention of the community.

#16. ANNUAL PROGRAMS FUND FOR THE ROTARY FOUNDATION- All Rotarians are encouraged to make a voluntary financial contribution of $100 to The Rotary Foundation each and every year.

#17. PERMANENT FUND OF THE ROTARY FOUNDATION - Fund development capabilities of Rotary International and its Foundation is expanding to maximize its fundraising potential to serve Rotary's long-term interests.
