New Elementary School to be Built at Vista Ridge
Contributed by: Alicia Olson on 8/26/2005

Vista Ridge is pleased to announce that the next elementary school in Erie, Colo. will be built at Vista Ridge, a 923-acre golf course community located two miles west of I-25 on Highway 7.  The 52,000-square-foot school will have a student capacity of 525.

Although funds to construct the $8.1 million school are already in place, additional funds are still needed to open and operate the school.
St. Vrain Valley School District's Board of Education decided Aug.10 to place a revenue-generating mill levy override measure on the November 10 ballot.  Along with addressing student, teacher and classroom needs throughout the district, a successful mill levy override measure will provide sufficient funds to open and operate the remaining new schools ready for construction.
If voters approve the funds, the district estimates construction on the elementary school will begin in early 2006.  Officials expect the school to be ready for students by the 2007 school year.
“We’re honored to host Erie’s newest elementary school,” said Andy Chaikovsky, president of Vista Ridge Development Corporation.  “We’re also pleased to be a part of the St. Vrain Valley School District and to offer quality education to our residents’ children in a convenient location.”
The school board voted unanimously to construct a new elementary school at Vista Ridge.  A spokesperson said the St. Vrain Valley School District made the decision to build at Vista Ridge because the 10.92-acre parcel is ‘build-ready’ and the land has already been deeded to the district.
Vista Ridge also has a growing number of elementary school-aged children.
The elementary school will be located at 2000 Mountain View Boulevard, between Forsythia Street and Skyline Drive, at Vista Ridge.
Vista Ridge children will attend Erie Elementary School until the new school is built; older children attend Erie Middle School and the new state-of-the-art Erie High School. A variety of private-school options also are available for parents, both within and near the community.  For more information about Vista Ridge, visit www.vistaridge.net.
