Boulder Ballet concludes it's 2007/2008 season with Sunday in the Parkperformed in three different locations. Free to the public - it is a wonderful way to start the summer season! The program will include classical and contemporary ballet. Starting June 15th - Broomfield Amphitheater at 1pm, June 22nd at the Bandshell in Downtown Boulder at 7pm and concluding at the Adams County General's Park on June 29 at 7pm.Boulder Ballet's Executive Director, Peter Davison explains, "We saw an opportunity for our company to perform in unique settings. This series exposes the art of ballet to the general public. It's a perfect introduction to ballet for the very young, but it is sure to delight balletomanes alike."This is the third year that Boulder Ballet presents their Sunday in the Park series. This year will feature a mixed repertoire from this past season as well as new offerings. If you missed out on Boulder Ballet's production of Cinderella, this is an opportunity to see the zany stepsisters in action and take in the pas de deux with Cinderella and the Prince. Ben Goodman, a previous student of the Boulder Ballet School and now a company member with Eugene Ballet in Oregon, will add his choreographic talents to this production. A contemporary piece set to the music Sleep by Eric Whitacre, this piece utilizes three couples and explores the nature of love and finding love. Another piece to look for has been choreographed by the Boulder Ballet's founder, Barbara Demaree. Featuring music from the opera. Lakmé, this dance highlights four girls with classical ballet movement and styling.
Whether it is contemporary movement, a story ballet or classical ballet, Sunday in the Park, has a little something for everyone.
