Q & A: Do I have a slipped disc?
Contributed by: DR. SEAN REIF D.C. on 9/1/2006

Technically, a disc can't "slip." BUT, the trauma or injury to the spine can cause discs to tear, bulge, herniated, or rupture. This can be quite painful, as the soft center of the disc leaks, putting pressure on the adjacent nerve roots and spinal cord.

The intervertebral disc is a pad of cartilage tissue between spinal vertebrae. Each of these discs acts as a "spacer" and "shock absorber" for the spine. A soft jelly-like center is contained by outer layers of fibrous tissue. Healthy discs allow normal turning and bending.

Many patients have avoided needless surgery or a dependency on pain pills, by choosing chiropractic care for their disc related health problem.

Spine health is comprehensive health and is what happens when Innate Intelligence is expressed 100%. This is the principle of chiropractic. The best method for freeing INNATE is through ADJUSTING vertebral subluxations. This is BodySpine. It also includes correcting the QUALITY of the QUANTITY.
