Board approves annexation for water reclamation
Contributed by: Town of Erie on 9/13/2006

Board Moves Forward with Plans for North Water Reclamation
Facility

At Tuesday night's meeting the Board approved
the annexation of approximately 108 acres of land known as
the Spallone Annexation. This property has been identified
by the Town of Erie as a site for the future North Water
Reclamation Facility. The site is located north of State
Highway 52 and east of County Line Road. The Board zoned
the annexation as Agricultural and Open Space as requested
by the applicant. The Agricultural and Open Space zoning
district is consistent with the Town's Master Comprehensive
Plan land use designation.

Following the annexation and zoning of the Spallone
property, the Board approved on Second Reading various
ordinances and resolutions related to the design and
construction of the North Water Reclamation Facility. This
facility initially is to be an approximately 1.5 million
gallon per day (MGD) facility with the capability of an
ultimate expansion to 3.5 MGD. Included in the project is
a 1000 acre foot re-use reservoir and buffer land from
existing properties. This project serves the Board's goal
for infrastructure by funding and providing essential
infrastructure that corresponds with Erie?s planned rate of
growth.

Board Approves Land Transfer for Erie Community Library -
The Board approved the transfer of approximately 3.2 acres
of Town owned property near the intersection of Leon Wurl
Parkway and County Line Road 1 to the Weld Library District
(WLD) for the construction of the Erie Community Library.

On November 2, 2005, the Town of Erie entered into an
Intergovernmental Agreement to transfer real property to
the Weld Library Finance Corporation for the construction
of a library building by the WLD. The property to be
conveyed to the district by the Town is of sufficient size
to allow construction of a 15,000 square foot library, as
well as space for future building expansion, with adequate
parking, open space, and landscaping. Town staff along
with the library district's staff has completed the site
planning for the library and the Town of Erie's Community
Recreation/Senior Center. To view the site plan for the
Erie Community Library and the Town of Erie Community
